Sobre el autor
Inés Coronado, 41, lives in Yanahuara, Arequipa, in a third-floor apartment her mother helped her buy in 2015 — the one with the small balcony that faces the Misti volcano, where her mother used to drink coffee on Sunday mornings while watching the morning light hit the white stone of the city. Worked as a nursing assistant at a private clinic in central Arequipa for fourteen years; cut back to part-time after her mother died of pancreatic cancer in early 2021. The first year was raw, the second year strange — small things kept happening that she couldn't quite explain. The kitchen clock that fell off the wall the morning of her mother's saint day. The recurring dream of her mother on the same bench at the Mirador de Yanahuara, always the same bench facing the Misti, three months in a row. The smell of her mother's hand cream in an empty room at 4am. Inés spent two years writing these moments down in a green linen notebook, not really sure if she was 'noticing señales' or 'projecting grief' — and most days still isn't sure. In 2023 she enrolled in her first online Medium course on Hotmart, mostly to figure out whether what she was experiencing was something other people experienced too. Worked through two more courses since then, kept the green notebook running, started cuaderno-de-senales.pages.dev as a way to organise the entries without showing them to her sister (who would worry) or her father (who is Catholic and would worry differently). Not a médium, not a certified spiritual practitioner, not a grief counsellor — a part-time nursing assistant in Arequipa who lost her mother five years ago and is still figuring out what counts as a señal and what's just the mind looking for one.
